Winter Blahs, Go Away

by Renee on February 15, 2012

It’s precisely mid-February, and this year we even get an extra day of winter with Leap Year. Skies are overcast, there’s a damp chill in the air, what little snow we’ve had is grey and ugly and hanging around the edges. Time to think of some summer fun: beer festivals, beach picnics, vacations, July 4th parties…ahhh.

One of the traditions of New Albion Brewing back in the day was a Summer Solstice party, one of Jack’s favorite throw-downs of the year. He would brew a special beer for the party–one year it became known as “Old Toe Sucker.” I’ll let you think about that one.

Recently one of my California correspondents sent me a bit of memorabilia from those days, and I thought I’d share it here. It puts me in the mood for some summer fun, how about you? I’ll keep my toes in the sand.

That looks like a tradition worth reviving.
