OktoberFEST is the Best

by Renee on September 13, 2012

October is around the corner, and not only is it my favorite time of year in Northeast Ohio for the beauty of the changing leaves, crisp sweater weather and autumn skies–it’s the beeriest month of the year, easily. It’s my definition of OktoberFEST:  Great American Beer Festival time in Denver (Oct. 11-13) and with barely time to sober up, Cleveland Beer Week (Oct. 19-27) will be upon us. Oh, I’m dreaming of a sudsy October for sure. I hope I’ll get to see many of my craft beer friends and followers from near and far and raise a glass or two of brew with you!

Here are a few of the highlights on my list:

Great American Beer Festival

Hope you’ve got your tickets! The most exciting thing going on is the return of New Albion Ale, recently resurrected by Jack and Jim Koch of Boston Beer. If you’re fortunate enough to be at the sold out Rare Beer Tasting on Friday, you’ll have the chance to sample it first.

The bookstore at GABF will have a lot of brewing notables signing beery books, including Jack and Maureen Ogle, who will sign Ambitious Brew: The Story of American Beer on Thursday and Saturday (members only session). Get your copy and say hello while you get a signature.

On Friday at 7:30 p.m., Jack and Jim will discuss and answer questions about their recent brewing experience during a Brewers Studio session in the pavilion hall called “The Return of An Original Craft Beer.”  Lucky attendees will get a taste of the past! Don’t miss it!

And look for me and Jack to be wandering around both of the Saturday GABF sessions, tasting beer and having a great time. Please say hello!

Cleveland Beer Week

There is no better time to visit the North Coast than Cleveland Beer Week. It’s the best weather we have all year long, and the craft beer will be flowing. You’ve seen my posts about the wonderful Cleveland Craft Beer Community–here’s your chance to experience it! We’re a fun group. So what are you waiting for? Book it! You can find a calendar listing here:

From the kickoff beer collaboration event on the 19th to Brewzilla, A Monster of a Beer Tasting on the 27th, and everything in between, you can’t be in Cleveland that week and not find good beer.  Be sure to check back frequently, new events are being added up to the last minute!

And stay tuned to my blog, I’ll have a Monster of a Beer Tasting ticket giveaway coming soon–that’s right, tickets to Brewzilla! Be sure you subscribe so you’ll be the first to be notified. Just add your email address above to the right. Here’s to the best time of the year~cheers!
