A Voice from the Past

by Renee on December 3, 2011

This is the time of year for ghosts from years past I suppose, and one found me just the other day, someone I never met personally, but who knew my father, Jack. One of the great pleasures of this blog is occasionally hearing from folks who remember Jack back in his New Albion Brewing years, or who tasted the brews oh, those many years ago. I received an email from just such a person the other day.

Randal Locke of Santa Rosa, California, is a cellar steward at Adler Fels Winery today, but back in 1980 he was a teenager whose older brother worked at New Albion, washing bottles. Randy wrote me a very nice note reminiscing about sharing a few of those New Albion beers with his brother and even meeting Jack.  He mentioned attending one of those long ago parties, which have since become legendary. I always enjoy hearing about those sort of things, since I missed them. Randy had the foresight to hold onto Jack’s business card, and sent this photo along:

Pretty cool, eh? Thanks very much, Randy. It made my day. Cheers!

So cool! I probably met this guy’s brother when I visited the brewery back in the day!
